THE LAND OF MYSTERIES-AGULERI (Part Two ) : Trinity Tree

From our previous tour to the Obu Gad or the Obuga, you must agree with me that Aguleri surely is the cradle of Igbo Civilization.

Our tour through our Hogwarts School of mysteries continues 
as we take you to our own Whomping Willow, the Agwuve Trinity tree – unlike the Whomping willow as in J. K Rowling’s Harry Potter, The Agwuve Trinity tree is a symbol of peace and tranquillity.

AGWUVE TRINITY TREE

When you hear of Trinity, what comes to your mind? Three in one, I suppose.

(In this narration, I will be confused on whether to use a singular or plural while referring to the Trinity Tree)

Facing the Obu Gad, the shrine of Eze Agwuve stands magnificent. It houses the Trinity tree.

We can go in and take a look at the Ukwuosisi Agwuve

Jeez! I have never seen this kind of tree – three trees, one root. Or is this one tree, three trunks? I just don’t know! It might be three different trees connected together...I just don’t know the science behind the tree. A mystery!

It was said that Eze (King) Agwuve (c. 1033 – 958BC) was the second king after Eri and he ruled over not just Aguleri but the whole of Igboland. Twenty-one days after his death, one of the trees grew over his grave, twenty-one days later, another grew so did the third.

The orientation of the tree is fence-like and barricades the main shrine said to be the burial place of Eze Agwuve. Stories have it that Eze Agwuve made the tree to protect himself.

The width of one of the tree is as big in diameter as twenty able-bodied men bound together.

Notice the size of two of our team members and the tourist guide in respect to the size of the tree – ants by an elephant will be an understatement!              

The trees brush the skies – they are too tall that our photographer could not take the picture of the full tree (or should we call it trees). If he had wanted to take the picture of the whole tree even its height, it would warrant him to travel many miles backwards. And if he did, you surely will not see the tree well due to the poor resolution with distance.

The Agwuve poses a big question to many naturalists; botanists and forest managers alike.

AGBANABO EZU N’ OMAMBALA

Water is a natural gift from God.

We all know that all waters of the earth are miscible (mixable), but the mysteries in Aguleri continues as the Omambala (Anambra) river and the Ezu river never mix.
